We are orality experts, both practitioners, and academics in the field of orality, coming from different backgrounds and ministries.

Danyal Qalb

He graduated with an MA in Intercultural Studies in 2006 from Columbia International University (CIU). Starting in 2007, he has been a cross-cultural witness among unreached people in the Philippines. 2018, Danyal also began to teach at a local Philippine seminary. Since 2020, he has studied for a Ph.D. in Orality Studies at the Asia Graduate School of Theology (AGST). In 2022, Danyal joined the Institutes for Orality Strategies (I-OS) as Research Director, where he teaches orality and oversees the Global Orality Mapping Project (GOMAP).


Charles B. Madinger, Ph.D.

A pastor given a second call building global communication strategies through-out the Global South. He leads the Institutes for Orality Strategies (I-OS) team from Manila specializing in orality training, research, and collaboration. Chuck studied at Fuller Theological Seminary (D.Min.) and the University of Kentucky (Ph.D.) teaching in schools, churches, and conferences. Roce and Chuck share two daughters and four grandchildren.


Jong Angeles

He, together with his wife, have been cross-cultural workers in Southeast Asia for over two decades now and were engaged in medical ministries, church planting, and training church leaders. He is a dentist by profession and was trained in the Career Missionary Program at Asia Center for Mission in the Philippines and later on took his MA in Intercultural Studies from Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in Baguio City. He is currently enrolled in the Th.M./Ph.D. Program of AGST in Orality Studies. Jong is also the Director of Training and Education at the Institutes for Orality Strategies (I-OS).


Daniel Baker

He is from the United States and has lived with his family in the Middle East since 2018. He completed his master’s degree in Theological and Cultural Anthropology from Eastern University in Pennsylvania, USA. He is currently working on his PhD in the Orality Studies program at the Asia Graduate School of Theology (AGST) in Manila, Philippines. He works as a trainer in biblical storytelling in partnership with the Confluence and wider Newfrontiers family of churches. Daniel loves the outdoors, exploring new cultures, and all things story.


Maria Angelica de Vera

Often described as energetic, Angelica is passionate about energizing, engaging, and empowering the church for God’s mission. Prior to studying for a Ph.D., Angelica pioneered a missions organization named Megumi Grace to the nations, a ministry with a vision to see every community of Christ followers actively engaged in making communities of Christ followers of all nations. She is also an artist and has illustrated children’s books; and is a musician, playing the violin in various occassions and settings. She has an M.Div. in Biblical Studies (honors)  from the Asian Theological Seminary.
